General AI (Still in the Future)

General AI is the idea of a machine that can understand and learn anything a human can. It would be flexible, able to solve new problems without being retrained. This kind of AI doesnโ€™t exist yet. Itโ€™s what many researchers are working toward, but weโ€™re not there yet.

Right now, all real-world AI is narrow. Even the most impressive systems donโ€™t โ€œthinkโ€ in a human way.

AI isnโ€™t science fictionโ€”itโ€™s already everywhere.

Here are some common places youโ€™ve probably seen it:

  • Finance: Credit scoring, trading bots, risk models
